Travel alerts and recent disruption
- Jan 2025 During an Arctic cold snap and amber weather warnings, Bristol Airport cancelled early-morning flights and suspended operations for snow clearing, with some inbound flights diverted to other airports. The airport sits about 600ft above sea level near the Mendip Hills, making it more exposed to snow and fog than lower-lying UK airports. (source)
Parking, drop-off and fare price changes
- 5 Jan 2026 Bristol Airport raised its "Drop Off & Pick Up" tariff from £7 to £8.50 for a 10-minute stay. "Short Stay" also rose from £7 to £8.50 for 15 minutes and from £9 to £10.50 for 15 to 30 minutes. The airport said the rises follow the Chancellor's budget, which will more than double its business rates to now its single largest non-operational cost. Security rule changes (liquids / electronics)
- 2026 Unlike several UK hubs (Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Edinburgh) that now allow up to 2 litres of liquid per container, Bristol Airport was still enforcing the 100ml liquids rule and the standard clear-bag requirement as of mid-2026.
